A “must do” while staying on Manasota Key is a visit to the Englewood Farmers Market, held downtown Englewood every Thursday from 9am-2pm, Oct-May. It’s a huge market and is loaded with fresh produce, meats, seafood, and bakery items. You’re guaranteed to find everything you’ll need to whip up a delicious dinner back at your place. You’ll also find plenty of unique handcrafted items, artwork, soaps and plants. Organic foods and gluten free options are available as well.
It’s a good idea to come hungry to the market, as there’s plenty of food that’s ready to eat as well. A popular spot for picking up a snack for noshing on while shopping is the food truck selling deep fried pretzels (it’s more like a donut than a pretzel), just follow your nose to the delicious smells coming from the food truck where they are frying them up fresh!
My favorite snack to munch on while shopping are chewy pretzel rolls by BAM German Bakery. Coffee, fresh juices, and smoothies are also available to quench your thirst.
What to Know Before You Go
The market is very busy and parking can be a challenge, but it’s worth it! Be sure to save some energy to shop in the quaint shops along Dearborn Street in downtown Englewood.
The market is located in historic downtown Englewood at 300 Dearborn Street, Englewood, Florida 34223.
The market takes place every Thursday from first week of October through the end of May except Thanksgiving from 9 AM to 2 PM.
